Social Equity Cannabis Dispensary License Program
La Machine community outreach efforts initially targeted specific zip codes that the Arizona Department of Health Services identified and are disproportionately affected by the historical enforcement of Arizona’s marijuana laws. Over a brief 30-day period, efforts focused on identifying individuals who were deemed eligible to apply for and secure one of the 26 dispensary licenses available. Qualifications included a residency requirement, household income that was less than 400% of the federal poverty level and had been personally adversely affected by the enforcement of marijuana laws.
La Machine identified eligible individuals through intense targeted phone bank and door-to-door efforts. Some 100-team members were recruited, trained, and deployed during the one-month effort in which approximately 5,000 households per day were targeted and contacted through phone calls as well as door-to-door visits. Twenty team members were dedicated solely to phone bank activities.
